Hi Everyone

I just buy one Ninebot ES1 from Wind (scooter operator in Madrid,Spain) and i cant figured out how to make it work.

I buy one cheap charger from Ali and is charging great (have the external battery too)

But when i try to move it brakes/vibrate and makes some beep.

I open the scooter and have some different connetions that the standard ES1 Motherboard and i dont have the Wind GPS/Module (the seller destroy this part)

When i push the button of the motherboard only turn on/off the light, but i cant turn off or nothing more

This is what it looks like the lower part of my scooter (wheel)

https://imgur.com/a/tB0S9DN

And what should looks like from the original,i found in Youtube

https://imgur.com/a/3PBiWjG

This is what goes from the motherboard

https://imgur.com/a/YbVmeVV

The green cable from the motherbord comes with this "Adapter" but i cant connect to anywhere because the connector doesnt fit to the engine connector (this connection have 5 pins and the engine dont have any other connector than the yellow-brown-blue connectors and the other one what i connect to the motherboard

https://imgur.com/a/30VtAyG

I try to reset the scooter but it doenst appear in bluetooth or nothing, the dashboard only show the charge and one S in blue,no bluetooth logo

This is how it looks when is connected what i can connect

https://imgur.com/a/ZVNEmsU

I should buy one new motherboard/dashboard?

Thanks a lot

Hey the cable that is missing the connector goes into the motherboard

I had a couple notes regarding the process..

Disassembling the bird-brain isn't necessary to complete this process. You can if you want to, but for the quickest bird --> personal recovery.. removing the 4 side screws holding the handebar together (see pics) and then removing the brain, in tact, then replacing with the linked dashboard is the quickest method, that i've found.

These are the screws that you need to remove to disconnect the handlebars..

Once the handlebars are disconnected, you can unscrew the cover plate screws, disconnect the headlight, then remove the other 2 screws holding the bird brain \ dashboard in place.

From there you can install your own dash and go on your way!!

Other side note, I've found that sometimes you are asked to do a firmware upgrade when you connect to the bluetooth... In my experience .. the firmware update limits the speed of the es2\es4 to 12\13 MPH... However, NOT upgrading does not allow for the scooter to be turned off via the power button nor does it allow for any function of the headlight.

Typically, you can click the power button once and the headlight comes on, click it again and the headlight turns off.. I may be wrong and my experience may be isolated, but I just experienced this by not upgrading the firmware.. The scooter is just permanently ON, with the flashing lights below the deck and the power button essentially does nothing. You cant control the headlight or turn the scooter off. On my other scooter, I did the upgrade and holding the power button in turns the scooter off.. tapping the power button once turns the headlight on or off, but limits the speed to 12\13mph.

Just my 2 cents!

Thanks so so much to @humanbeing21 for the original hack and for getting this all started!! ALL praise goes to him!!

Thanks all.

Pry it off? What? There should be 2 sets of screws on the inside of the neck .. 2 screws, remove them and the plastic plate, pop out headlight, 2 more screws, push bird brain and everything else up through the neck, unhook all wires and pop in the new dashboard. The same safety bit works for both sets of screws on the inside of the neck

@MarcusRab I used the iPhone app on the ES2 scooter.
I can report that the ability to alter or turn off the lights on the scooters is only available through the IOS application. Android versions of the Segway-Ninebot app do not give you the option to change the light pattern or turn them off entirely.
Has anybody found a workaround for this? I'd love to be able to change the colors from my android

So, finally got a replacement dash for my Bird and installed it. I'm assuming I have an ES2 because there's no external battery pack (or holes in the front where it would have been attached). According to the reviews for the dash it is OEM.

Bluetooth connects just fine. Scooter turns on from the power button, including the underside lights and brake light (which flashes when the brake throttle is applied). When the power button is tapped again it turns the headlight on and off and when held down it turns the whole scooter off. When the scooter is manually rolled forward the dashboard registers the speed.

Here is what the dashboard looks like when powered on and connected to bluetooth:

The accelerator does not do anything. Do I need to replace the control board too or am I missing a step in the process?

Can you change speed mode by double clicking?
When you press the accelerated, did you spin the front wheel first?
