Most likely is stolen... chances are very high. Just like hundreds other gone missing.
On the other hand...
Possibly obtained thru an abandoned property (impound) auction. We may never know... Bird wont know either unless they get hold of it then identify thru serial number and compare that on their list of scooters stolen versus scooters seized by government.

And no, once its Bird Brain (communicator) was removed and replaced with the regular Xiaomi control panel. That thing is out of Bird control.

I thought of keeping the scooter hack information to myself and round up impounded Birds to sell. The trouble was it's very difficult to find enough scooter to buy to make this worth it.

My guess is they stole this scooter, hacked it, and now looking to profit. That's not cool.
