On another topic: has anybody attempted to restore the folding mechanism or knows if it's possible? Would really help me
Not possible. Frame is bigger on rental, fork isnt foldable and even if u got a foldable fork from ebay it wont fit in cause of different design and different placement of holes.

I have heard that it is possible if you by a folding kit.
Not that I have tried it, But I do think it's possible if you put in the time.

Right now I'm considering making foldable in the stem, or at least try.

Do you have the link to a kit? The mechanism can be found on eBay https://bit.ly/2YhOYx0 but I'm not sure whether this would be all I need or not.
I'm really willing to put in the effort to make this work if possible otherwise the scooter has little value to me.
Let me know your progress

Heya, this thread is getting looong and I'm trying to understand my alternatives here.

So what I've got is a VOI ES4:
Code: Select all
New Brain (like the one you show)
-> No Folding mechanism
-> Tracker is in front of the scooter connected to the control board.
-> The scooter unlocks like most rentals, using that control that receives unlocking .
-> No underlights
If i purchase a replacement dashboard along with a new control board from ebay,
ie:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dashboard-Co ... SwhWpdLusK
and
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Replacement- ... SwmBZdLfLn

Then replace the ones thats currently on the scooter - will it be good to go?

And the alternative is to keep the control board but flash the dash to get it working?

Very thankful for answers, I feel so confused.

you don't need to buy anything (except an st-link, and soldering equipment if you don't have it)

just use this guide: https://www.scooterhacking.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15

So I acquired one Voi, upon disconnecting the GPS module, the frame itself started to beep and after a while with different tone. I took the GPS module with me and it seemed to update the location even when disconnected. So there has to be built-in battery. How about the frame, does it have any secondary GPS unit inside?

What if I would first remove the handles and the dash, disconnect it from the battery and then remove the extra battery - would that cut off the the remaining power to the "secondary" GPS unit?

The Voi was bought from the citys auction, so nothing illegal here. I just don't want it to be on the map.

So I exchanged mine to another scooter, that was turned off. By that I mean I could ride it without it braking. I removed the GPS and nothing happened. The external battery had power indicator shining 3 lights out of 4 lights. It's an ES4.

So why that one was movable without it beeping? If the internal battery ran out, why doesn't the external battery charge it?

Hi
Im not an expert on electronics or programming.
But i was thinking, will it be possible to use an arduino and an esc to run the motor.
The esc must be able to break of course!
And use the original throttle and break pads.
And let the arduino handle input and output.
Must be easy for the smart guys in here.
