Clone? M365 Scooter Help

Hello,

I was able to get a damaged M365 Clone scooter for a really good price, and I am now working through the unit and trying to get it repaired and running properly.

I initially thought it was a real Xiaomi unit, but after taking off the handlebars there is a JST connector in the steering column instead of a round connector. So I am pretty sure it is one of the fake/clone units.

So here are some questions I have if anyone can help me - any tips are greatly appreciated.
Here is the status of the unit right now:
The unit shows up in the M365 Tools, but I can't see anything but the name (moRobot9000xx) and all the battery info and other stuff is n/a
The unit shows as a scooter in the Mi Home app - but I can't see anywhere to look at the status etc...I tried to change my region but I can't get that to work...
The unit will not connect to the Segway Ninebot app - it does show up, just fails to connect
I tried to see the firmware on the M365_downG app - it connects but won't supply anything when I click on Check BER or Batt_Info

Here is what I would like to do for starters:

1. Get it to show up in some android app
2. Upgrade to a PRO type dashboard (OEM or otherwise) with some version of firmware that will work with my clone
3. Adjust the speed of start (3kph or so) so I can start it easier
4. Get a little more power for short steep hills - but I don't want a higher speed - I would like to limit the high speed really
5. Adjust the cruise-control - I think it comes on after like 10 seconds which is a bit to quick for my taste
6. Reduce the re-gen so it coasts a little better

I can solder, program a little, flash files or whatever else is needed.

I have only just re-assembled the unit and need to get more familiar with it, but everything seems to be in working order.

I am a smaller person and only weigh 135lbs, but the unit seems to really struggle on short steep hills unless I have a running start...I guess that could be firmware or a crappy motor????

I am guessing the unit was already flashed by the previous owner - he damaged the unit and I bought it completely taken apart - I have so far cleaned up the boards, wires, and everything to get it running again.

Again any help is greatly appreciated as I am totally new at this thing!

OK, so first I had a clone that I’ve been converting to a “m365” let me just say you’re in for a rough ride...I purchase the clone off eBay that was advertised as a real M365. I opened a case with eBay and essentially got the scooter for free and I have literally spent more money swapping out parts then just purchasing a real m365 in the first place.

If you want a Pro dashboard you’re probably going to have to swap out the controller... and also the throttle, brake and front light. You’re probably also going to have to switch out the battery because it won’t be compatible, I had to do all of this. If it’s a clone the battery probably isn’t going to have lg 18650 cells (Chinese knock-off‘s)so you won’t get the range you would with a real one. If you wanted to keep the battery you could probably buy a aftermarket BSM and solder it in, but you might end up needing a battery welder to do this which will be at least $100 but maybe not. The folding pole, stem and “block” that holds the dashboard were also not compatible with the pro dashboard, so I had to buy those as well(you might get lucky and not have to do this). As far as power, switching the controller might give you more power if your motor is the same spec...? You also might have to splice in connectors to the motor like I did. Here is the first controller and dashboard I purchased ( I actually purchased a real oem controller after and it fried and now I’m using the one in the link which seems to be working pretty well.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Electric-Scoot ... SwnVBdAcV9

Also do yourself a favor and buy a ST-link sooner rather than later. Here is the one I purchased.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/ST-Link-V2-Min ... 2749.l2649

It seems like every time I ride the scooter something else breaks and I have to wait for another month for parts to come from China, not to mention the corners they cut with the clone. I purchased the scooter about four months ago and I’ve literally got to ride it maybe 10 days total in that time. On my entire scooter there’s not a single washer for any bolt and I’ve been trying to find them and it’s not easy. Also this community kind of sucks for help… My advice to you would be to just enjoy the scooter you purchased run it into the ground and save up and buy something else once it dies. Also switching the region on the Mi App is a pain in the butt, but It can be done. I used a phone number from Google voice for the confirmation text.

if you just wanted parts that are compatible with your particular controller I don’t know what to tell you I tried to find ones that were compatible with mine and didn’t have much luck. I think Aliexpress and eBay are probably your best bet to find stuff like that. I would stay away from Banggoods , i had a horrible experience.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate the advice and your experience with your clone.

I am not looking to spend much more on this scooter...I think I have a ST-link I can use at work.

I will post up some photos of what is inside later when I get the chance to open it back up.

I still need to find a app to talk to this scooter.

The Mi Home app sees it as a scooter, but I don't get much more info from it - not sure why it can see it at all...and I can't see anyway to change the region - I don't get a next button once I change from USA to China...

Doing some searches on the site I was able to find an app that actually talks to my FakeXioami...

The Honor LebiTEC app does talk to the scooter and has some options to change settings - including turning off Cruise Control (I did), adjusting speeds, and seeing the battery level.

So I took a couple of photos of the opened up underbelly electronics/

The code on the batteries is: 1CR 18650/28V - There are 30 of these "30 Amp High Drain" cells.

I am guessing these are probably cheap knock-off cells. The sticker on the battery cover lists the pack as 7.8AH

Thanks for the info about the app I did not know that existed.

Interesting… Your controller is obviously a knock off controller but it’s a M365 knock off so that’s a good thing! That means your dashboard can be upgraded to the pro Version. Here’s a link to the second pro dashboard I purchased ( The first pro dashboard I purchased I spliced and soldered the original brake, light and Accelerator to, they all had different tips and didn’t plug-in to the pro board).

https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Xiaomi-M36 ... 2749.l2649

It also means your battery in all likelihood has a BMS and given the fact that you already cut the plastic up, try pulling it out and seeing if you have 2 “Z” fuses (you probably don’t have the fuses as it’s a Chinese knock off, you’ll probably have metal pieces welded where the fuses should be but the board should be compatible). Even with aftermarket parts I was able to connect to the Chinese region Mi home app and update the entire scooter to the latest version. I connected and change the region with my iPad, go to settings, region, and once you change it to China mainland in the top right hand corner there’s a thing that looks like an SD card shape, click on that. A popup will come up saying it wants to switch the servers, click yes and another pop up saying he wants to use your microphone my recommendation would click no on the mic...lol. Also I had to give my phone number on my iPad, doesn’t seem to need it on my iPhone but I just use Google voice. It was tricky inputting the phone number and getting everything working, I had to do it several times to figure it out.

Also this is an image of what I got with my clone so you got way luckier than I did...lol...got to laugh to keep from crying . Also sorry if some of the grammar is off I tend to talk into my iPad and only skim to proofread...

I was able to get connected to the Mi Home app after some issues logging in at first - but I have yet to be able to change the region on the settings menu. I will try again with your tips - on my phone the SD shaped Icon didn't do anything.

I just cleaned up the battery pack and re-taped all of the metal tops with insulating tape to protect it a bit better - so I will wait to see if it has 1, 2 or no Z-fuses...not sure what that will tell me but next time I am in the bottom area I will.

I am not sure about the Pro Dashboard as it has a round connector in the steering column and mine has a JST connector.

Does anyone know what type of connector the round one is? I could buy one from Digi-Key and replace mine to see if it is all I need to make the switch.

As I understand it If you have 2 Z fuses you can flash custom firmware‘s to where you can literally create your own custom firmware for whatever parameters you want. If you don’t have 2 z fuses it doesn’t work.

https://m365pro.scooterhacking.org/

Heres a video detailing all things about the two z fuse bms.

You have a cloned controller board and if you buy a pro dashboard with the regular cable ( looks like you have a jst adapter attached to the controller right now) it should work with no problems.

https://m365pro.scooterhacking.org/

https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Xiaomi-M36 ... mGQmuXpo4Q

If the controller board you have has a purple (in the picture you sent the pcb looks brown but that could just be the camera sensor or the flash distorting the actual color)PCB then it’s likely the one in the link below and you should have no problems connecting it to the pro dashboard with the cable that’s included in the link above. If you don’t wanna wait a month I’m sure you can find a US supplier, just search eBay for M365 controller cable.
