The problem will get worse and soon the the wheel will no longer spin at all. If you don’t use the light, it should last a bit longer. If you do use the light, the motor will start to lock up randomly. By this I mean, out of the blue when you you push on the throttle, it will stop the front wheel abruptly instead of making it spin faster. In all likelihood, it will toss you over the handlebars. That sound that you hear means it could lock up at any time, so be careful.
Even if you don’t use the light, it might suddenly lock up on you.
The fix is to swap controllers or to replace the fuse. There are YouTube videos on how to replace the fuse if you have the skills.
