What Bird is hoping to accomplish by dropping the speed of captured scooters to 5 mph?

Chargers are capturing them at night when it's dangerous to ride. Then going around being stupid and getting hurt.

Most of the chargers that signed up aren't charging. All they do is capture one scooter and use it for personal use all day.

They’re probably trying to curb the after hours use. In San Diego a charger let his buddy use a scooter and the guy ended up getting hit by a car and died.

I knew a girl who signed up as a charger and rent em out for the whole day. She had a whole flock that would go for for $10/day.

Before they lowered the speed limit, I was in a sketchy situation where two guys hopped out of a car and made a bee line toward me as I was unlocking a scooter. I was able to unlock the Bird, kick start it up and get the hell away from the potential muggers. Since the lowered speed limit I have been in dark hike and bike trails thinking to myself that I am f***ed if someone comes after me because I am fat and slow and now I have a heavy *ss useless scooter with me. I feel bad for the folks who were charging without cars. I can't imagine having to collect multiple birds at 5 mph. Sucky
